This painting began with a picnic.

Sitting amongst the wildflowers and yellow gorse on the clifftops above Constantine Bay, looking out toward Bull Rock on the spectacular north coast of Cornwall — sun on my face, sketchbook on my knee, the Atlantic glittering below. Locals wandered past all day, pausing to chat, to look at the view, to carry on. Surfers rushed down to the beach to catch the high rollers. Life in full, glorious swing around me while I sketched and painted, utterly content. One of those days you tuck away and return to often. A day to treasure.

All of that warmth and joy is in this painting. The wildflowers tumbling along the path, the vivid yellow gorse, the sea light, the sense of space and freedom that only a Cornish clifftop delivers.
